Naming no names, poor product quality... what would you do?
« on: September 16, 2015, 05:14:08 PM »
I haven't put this in commercial as I won't be pointing fingers.  I'm unsure what to do really and wonder what others thoughts are?

Perhaps I'm a little burned with another company situation we all know about - finally got my order after a year and a half and frankly some of the casts are pretty terrible, missing hands, large runs of thick metal on a couple...but anyway....on to another company:

This involves a pretty big name in the wargaming world, who like a few companies allow you to buy a voucher to be spent in the following year, something I did and which saved me 50%. This company website is a bit of a nightmare, especially on ipad, but I made an order after much humming and hawing and got through the parcel.

Anyway got my parcel.  One model was not sent because it is being remoulded (so why is it availble to buy?) and the majority of the resin casts are covered in little blobs, details are semi filled in, large excesses of resin run off prominent details.  An MDF kit had a thoroughly broken component.  All Of this is fixable with a buttload of effort.

Is this normal?  What do you think I should do? Take it on the chin as the result of taking advantage of paying half price?

Is this flakiness just par for the course in our chosen hobby?.

Absolutely not, whatever price you pay (they offered the discount) unless the sale was specifically for "seconds", "shop soiled"  or "sold as seen" you are entitled to first quality products. You should request replacements or a full refund.

Good lord, no. Be nice, ask for all that is wrong to be made right, and I bet the company will fix it. Don't accept substandard anything, at any price.

You're in the UK, so you have a 14-day no-questions return period on any mail-ordered goods.  You can send them back simply because you don't like them.

Better to make them aware of it and either ask for a replacement or your money back.

Thanks guys, I wrote an email last night, and got a quick response back saying they would look into it. I'm sure it was just a mix up in the sorting stage, I also discovered two of the mdf kits sent were the wrong ones so I suspect orders just got mixed :)

Take a picture of it as well where you point out the problems.

I had a problem with an MDF kit once (probably from the same seller).
Nothing broken, but some parts just didn't fit. (an error on the part of the lasercutter it seemed)
I scanned the parts and provided measurements so the people could see what exactly why things didn't fit.
Had my replacement parts within the week.

So don't hesitate. Contact 'em and provide detailed pics. I'm sure they'll handle it. Never forget : Bad publicity is a killer for them !
