After playing 3 games with just myself and one opponent, I decided I had sufficient grasp of the game to run something bigger. Armed with good advice from answers to my previous topic:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=84211.0 I tentatively asked around to see if anyone fancied an evening game at our usual venue - the room over the pub. I was pleased to get 5 positive responses, most from people who don't usually play non-historical games or skirmish games. This, I thought, could be a tough audience.
Guess what? They loved and want to play again next week.
I made up 6 Leagues in advance but limited them to 4 characters each; one of each type. I also didn't use League Perks. Let's keep it simple.
Players chose which League they liked the look of as they arrived. The available choices were:
Local Squire and underlings; Scotland Yard Police; Gangsters; Women's Institute; RCMP; Honest Peasantry. The RCMP didn't get picked by anyone (6 available Leagues and 5 players so one League not used).
The first couple of moves were naturally quite slow but soon the Fortune cards were being wielded with skill and aplomb, Initiative was being sought after and used cannily and everyone had a grasp of what the game was about. I'd made a little print-out of aspects of the game that differed from what they may have been used to, eg no specific weapons, terrain effects on movement being dealt with by Perils and a few other things. This helped to speed up their grasp of things.
I enjoyed running the game - it made a nice change and enabled me to get an even better understanding of the rules.
I didn't take many photos - I was too busy but here's what I did take, sadly only with a phone camera. The senery was sparser than usual because I had to take it there but the players were happy with it.

Three Leagues clash in a last minute bid to secure the Major Plot Point - They all failed.....!

Until next week, with luck....
