OGAM and Age of Sigmar
« on: 15 February 2016, 09:28:09 AM »
Having recently purchased Of Gods and Mortals I was immediately struck how well the system suites a mix of the old and more recent ranges from Games Workshop.  I have a bunch of old Citadel lead of various genres which would work well for the Mortals in the game. Legends are covered with various special characters and monsters and the Gods could become avatars of the Warhammer gods.  So all the major demons and fancy Sigmarines would work well for the God characters.

Has anyone else had a go with this?  Currently I am toying with getting the Lord Castellant as an Avatar of Sigmar to go with my old empire figures.  Legends would be a wizard, General on a Warhorse and the Gryph Hound that comes with the Castellant.  I figure the new miniature is so out of scale with the old stuff that it would be suitably imposing as a "God".

Chaos is easy having an old Keeper of Secrets lying around as the God and am not short of Champions and Sorcerers for the Legends.  Orcs and Goblins are more problematic with a God character.  Any suggestions for a God there?  I have an idea of a huge foot (a la Monty Python) but that may be a bit too silly.

For the undead there are heaps of suitable big scary dead things - just a matter of choosing one that looks the best.

The fluff from Age of Sigmar sort of works as well.  Chaos has torn the fabric of reality apart so different time streams and alternate universe are colliding, the Gods are made flesh in reality, any setting and any time can meet.  So the Ancient Greeks could take on the Chaos Hordes, Percy Jackson could find himself fighting Sigmar and the Nazis fight it out with Eezer Ugezod and his black orcs.

This - the Foot of Gork was an Orky spell anyway, so it makes sense. Sort of.  :D
Alternatively, have Mork represented by a tiny gretchin converted to have a shamanic appearance - he's the crafty one anyway.
The Skull Pass box included a totem sort of thingy which could be used, but it definitely looks too immobile to work well.
Any giant - painted green - could be used as a Gork representation - not to mention adapting the Gargant concept to this setting, seeing that gargants represent Mork and Gork.

Another option for the orc gods would be the Confrontation line of Orcs.  They had some pretty big orcs in that range.  If you can't find any of those one of the Ogre characters from GW might work as well, or any Ogres really.

FW used to produce a stone Orc "idol". quite on the big side (and on the pricey side, especially now that's discontinued), but could get the job done.

Maybe a warcraft action figure for an Orc god if it isn't too large?

Thanks to this thread, I now found a reason to finally get a Nagash (or to proxy it at least).

There's also this chap (pricy, but suitably imposing).

Or these fellows.
