Abandoned Scotland: Inspirational pictures.
« on: November 21, 2016, 12:49:47 PM »
I was not sure which board this would really sit in best, but Workbench makes some sense as I think it has some very inspirational pictures for building all sorts of projects, from medieval period ruins (or even intact buildings if you use a little imagination, right through to Post-Apoc.

I know that I will find it useful and I am sure some of you will too, especially the Scots amongst you as everyone loves a bit of local history, dont they?.

Thanks - very interesting, especially the 3D reconstruction from drone pics bit (were engaged on a similar project here).
My great-great-great-great grandfather came from Scotland (possibly) - maybe I could claim one of these as inheritance?  :D

Excellent, thanks for sharing.

Polphail is worth visiting for some brutally depressing architecture and cool graffiti. It has the added bonus of a brand new marina complex next door with a lovely restaurant, spa and accommodation! :D

I hope they visit Argyll asylum sometime. I'd like to see what it looks like from on high, though I guess they might want to wait until it's all closed which is apparently happening soon. I'll wave to the drone from my front door.

A pretty inspirational collection of pictures. Good find Paul.

Supposedly there are still miles of the Kelvingrove underground tunnels still in existence. I was told that the basement of a school I worked in was built directly above the tunnels, and access could be gained from there.

Pretty amazing stuff.

Kind Regards
Andy

I believe that it is. I've never explored it, but I worked with a keen local historian who had. He claimed that the tunnels started at Gartnavel Hospital.

Interesting stuff. Maybe one day.

Sadly im sure i read that Polphail is now being demolished. A few my graff mates had been, to put their marker on it.

On the Abandoned train tunnels. There is one were i grew up in Parkhead and it strecthes all the way to Dalmarnock. We were always too scared to go into it though.

The one time we did get the balls to do it, we packed up like the bloody goonies. Torches, sweeties, plasters and a big stick....usual kind of adventure stuff. Got to the entrance, turned on the torches and low and behold there was a bloody dead dog. We never went near it again haha.

Some pics here of the Tunnels in the East End. There is even an old blocked off toilet on London Road. The foundations must still be there. Ive always wondered what it's like.

This is the tunnel entrance and was about 200 yards from my house. It's just next to Celtic park.
