A few action shots from an ECW scrap yesterday. My weighty advance on the left was successful, tho' barely; Rupert's charge nearly swept away the Eastern Association (Ironsides) horse, but he got whacked on the head himself, and the infantry support was decisive after that. On my right, I had high hopes, since Byron's horse were shot up by a well-placed ambush in the trees, but Hesselrig's Lobsters, led by Fairfax in person, were still overwhelmed, with the Lord General being taken prisoner. The supporting Parliamentary horse dissuaded them from following up their advantage, fortunately. The ambushing dragoons fell foul of a pike charge too.
There was a fight in the centre, where again I was was lucky in the shooting match, but my wife was tired of taking photographs by that stage (she wasn't playing this time). Tarrington's horse moved in to defeat the battered Royalist foot units a little later.
Hmmm...I'm actually Royalist in my sympathies. Divine Right autocracy is a pain in the posterior, but not as bad as theocratic dictatorship.
