I was rather surprised to find out that the uniform could be corduroy...
Looking at this picture you can see there is corduroy softness to the material...
I can't imagine it was easy to get a good military crease in it...

All the best.  Aly

And it could, if some contemporary military artists can be relied upon, have a distinctly green tone to it as well according to some of the stuff in this rather expensive but lovely book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Uniforms-German-Colonial-Troops-1884-Charles-Woolley/0764333577/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494269331&sr=8-1&keywords=german+colonial+uniforms

I always find Charles Woolley's books very tempting...

I am struggling to find a good enough reason to get a copy of this...

The Book Depositary has it for £40...
Okay not cheap... but better than £60 lol

All the best. Aly
