Great work and, like the others, I am very impressed with the bases too.  Can you share the colour palette you used for the bases?  It may sound like a very basic question, but the tones look just right and I have never been totally happy with my efforts.

Thank you for the compliment Sir Rodney!
Step one was to apply basing sand with pva and any raised areas are made or rocks fixed in place by using green stuff. Then, once dry I sprayed the bases all over using Flames of War British Armour (Italy) which is basically khaki. I then apply a pretty liberal dry brush of Vallejo cork brown followed by another more light dry brush of Vallejo stone grey. The static grass I used to start with was a scorched grass by Citadel, but I ran out and couldn't find any more, they appear to have stopped making it, so I had to use a greener toned one and have had to go back and redo the original bases to match as the difference was noticeable. I preferred the scorched grass as it gave the bases a somewhat bleak look and didn't overpower the figures, whereas the brighter green can detract somewhat I think. Finally I popped a mixture of tufts and flowers on to break up the bowling green effect of solely static grass.

Volleyfire!  Thanks very much for sharing your secrets.  I'm off to the Partizan show this weekend and will buy a can of the FoW spray to give it a go. :D

You're most welcome Sir Rodney. Since the demise of Stafford Games however, the only stockist of FoW that seems to appear at the shows which I frequent is Caliver, and I don't recall seeing a lot of the Battlefront spray cans on their stand. I had to order mine direct, and then wait a few weeks twiddling my thumbs for it to arrive. I can't find a match in the PSC cans or Warlord's offerings unfortunately, and Wayland didn't stock any either..

Aha!  Thanks for the warning.  I miss Stafford Games - a very good mail order service and a decent presence at a lot of shows.  Despite the size of Wayland's trade stand at the major ones like Salute, somehow they never seem to have what I am looking for and I don't think I have ever bought anything from them!

Lovely work!
Are the bases fairly stable moving them around?
I use a similar basing system, except I use a burnt umber as a base coat, burnt sienna first dry brush then beige second dry brush. Static grass, tufts, and flowers.

Thank you, yes quite stable, the figures are on 2 pence pieces which adds some extra heft but the fit in the slots is pretty tight so they don't fall out.The mounted figures can be a bit of a squeeze sometimes to get them into their bases the fit is so snug. I based them individually in case we want to use a different rule set such as Lion Rampant for instance.
