Ebor Late Roman size comparison
« on: 17 May 2017, 06:26:29 PM »
Are Ebor's Late Romans compatible with Footsore and Gripping Beast? Although I'm not too taken by Ebor's rank & file, I do like the command figs and am thinking of adding them to my GB/Footsore Late Roman army if they match up.
Thanks

Yes, I just assembled all those figures for my next project... I can post a picture tomorrow if you like.
I got Black Tree (ebor), footsore and GBeast (plastic/metal), they fit weel IMHO  ;)

More, Blacktree miniatures are often on sales and shipping is cheap, I bought saxons, vikings and WW2 in the last 18 months.
Roman artillery is nice but the artillerists are in "lorica segmentata" non suitable for late period, you can easily swap them with other dark age miniatures just change the heads.

I did a size comparison a while ago, here it is and hope it helps

Left to right: Footsore, Gripping Beast, Crusader, Ebor

You go to war with the figures you have, not the figures you wish you had!

Thank you. It helps a great deal. Looks like the Ebor figs are too small for my exercitus.

To me it looks like they're almost same size, the ebor one only seems to be in a somewhat hunched over position.

But it has a far fatter base.

They are a bit hunched over. Nevertheless, I've been able to mix the commands relatively successfully with other lines without any glaring problems. Here's a second look at the poses after they're painted, you can see they've got some forward momentum in the sculpts. That's why I used the line legionaries as lanciarii

Richard,
Great paint job and composition. Maybe I'll recruit an all Ebor unit after all.

Thanks. And it depends on your particular unit. Those command figures have some very authentic helmets, etc. Ebor's prices are also pretty good. Maybe start by ordering the command pack you like the best and see how that goes with your other minis?
