Looking for a little feedback from Hero gamers.
« on: March 16, 2009, 06:27:01 PM »
My company is doing a sideline Supers line and we have recently decided to add some MechSpiders to the line. Below are the images.

The models will be around 2 inches long with plugs on the top of the abdomin for weapons to be plugged into. Each model will retail for around $5-$6 depending on production costs. Each spider will come with one weapon configuration.

Any feedback, likes and dislikes would be appreciated.

Each block on the grid is 1 inch, each light blue block is a tenth of an inch.

First reaction: Reminds me of the robot thingies from Ghost in the Shell.

Second Reaction: Looks a bit like it's made out of lego, but that might just be the computer-generated image on a gridded background reminding me of the old lego instructions

Third reaction: When will we be able to see an actual fig?

I don’t have any use for this kind of model but I think it look good as such.

On an other matter, are you the one behind this 6mm Hover Tank?

No, but it's the same designer who made the Hover Craft. I own Comfy Chair Games. Our Supers line will include models like Rocco:

And John Henry

Along with a few other starters.

I like to come to boards like this and talk with real people/customers to get real feedback about projects. I never assume I know what people like, but then again I never take an overly vocal few from any one web-site as the voice of the people. If I get good conversation about a project, I bring more ideas to that table. If I get crickets in reply, I find other places to talk about future projects.

The MechSpiders are an idea that uses a model for a line that can also play double duity to other lines as the customers imagination sees fit. Our Supers line will use John Henry as our Captain America type. The symbol of hope for a nation. John Henry was most known for showing the man over machine dynamic, so it's natural to need some cool robots for him to battle against.

They will be web sale items on the Comfy Chair web-site and shipping to the U.K. is reasonable with the shipping we use.

Our hero "launch" will have 5-6 hero models and the mechaspiders at the least. Were not rushing to get the rules out and it takes a backseat to our Spinespur game for now. The models will be on the site by June or so.

We seperate our ranges into categories, so if the heroes range sells real well we take the monies made from the Heroes and get more heroes produced. We basically don't steal funds from one project to make or support a new one. This basically makes the players the #1 voice of what and how fast a model range grows at Comfy Chair Games.

When I get some painted examples of these models done I'll post them here for you guys to see as well.

Glad to see I wasn't the only person thinking of Tachicomas.

The minis are nice,  as is the design for the spiders
What material do you propose to manufacture the spiders from? Plastic?

They will be in metal. The designer also added in a few extra free pieces so the scale can easily be changed for the spider. Things like a crew hatch and front mounted gatlings.

Oh nice idea! Something that can be used for more than one scale is highly desirable.

The only issue I have is the "each spider will have one weapons configuration." I'd rather buy the spider with multiple weapon options and choose which one I want to add to the carapace. I know that will add to your weight and production cost, but it would probably be the difference between me buying one or more of them or not.

Shouldn't you make an Obama for that?  ;)  lol

I think the minis look splendid. As I've just started out with Supersystem, I can always use new Super-concepts  :)

EDIT:

Are these going to be 28mm? And are the Spinespur minis 28mm or larger?
