Always good to see a oldhammer stuff.

You can get resin shields from other places though I think? Must be something out there that fits the bill.

Thanks! I know there are some nice ones available in Resin, and they are much easier to paint. I recently obtained a couple of Oldhammer shields from a Kickstarter.

Nevertheless, one of the challenges is to design a shield out of nothing, and the new ones are all sculped. While this is actually much better, I'd love to test how my skills have advanced it nthe last 25 years and do some freehands.

Great selection of old Citadel classics.
You have really brought the character out of them.

I like the greyscale shaded orc.
It is a technique that I have used in the past and something I should use more often as it is pretty effective.

Thank you! Maybe this summer, I'll go more into RT and also try to paint your let's call them People of the Sands. Greyscale painting is pretty effective, I learned it from Delany King's marvellous blog. She is much better, but I was astonished just how well the shades fall using this technique!

Dont forget, the undercolour does not have to be grey.
Here are some Iron Claw Space Pirates getting the 'sepia-scale' treatment (one got 'green-scale' as he was going to be finished differently to the rest...) using various shades of brown...

Try out different shades for a slightly different finish.
 :)

Thanks. I'll have to try that. Please show the pictures when they are finished. I'm very intrigued to see how the undercoat will affect the overall model.

...with closer shots over the next few pages.
The were finished off with most areas highlighted with normal painting to achieve a brighter result but the idea is the same.
It certainly speeds things up as it would have taken much longer to paint twenty figures in the 'normal' fashion.
 ;)

Wow! I'll have to try that myself! The result is really good and very unique!

Thanks! Yes, the long-faced Orcs were pretty unique and now that no-one, except the early Rackham guys ever dared to copy them, they have become something like an endangered species!

And now for something completely different. Chaos, my second Oldhammer love.

Metal miniatures that have tons of character and scream Iron Maiden or at least Judas Priest  :D :) ;)

Why don't they make such tongue in cheek models anymore but only blood-gurgling Bloodkillers of the Skullgod of Blood!

First the super quirky guy in a bone armor! Take that Diablo 2!  lol

Some Chaos Warriors of Tzeentch. The colors were a bit daring for me, but they came out to my liking...just as planned!

My Chaos sorcerors. The scarecrow is from Rackham. One of the best models ever made IMO, the sorcerer is very old Oldhammer.

Rackham hunter of darkness. I like to use him as a Solomon Kane. He's a bit too huge and towers over most GW humans, but the model is stunning!

Love all the new editions.
Back when Chaos was 'proper', I loved that period too and still have a few figures from the 80's that I will not be parting with.
Love that scarecrow too, he is great!
