I am an addict hoarder of miniatures
« on: 25 June 2017, 08:21:03 AM »
And that's the honest truth! I have, literally, thousands of miniatures stashed in boxes and drawers, unpainted. Hundreds are painted, but never gamed. It is shameful, I know, but what can I say? I have the attention span of a fish and no willpower to resist buying more miniatures.

Now I am trying to focus, but still there are a lot of projects that I would like to start: Muslim and Castilian warbands for Saga, Royalists and Parlamentarians for Pikeman's Lament (technically, this has already started as I have 12 Horse and 8 Dragons already painted); Great Northern War Russians and Swedish; Renaissance Ottomans... and so on, and so forth.

I know I can't. Actually, I must get rid of a good chunk of my collection, otherwise I won't have space left for the newly painted stuff. And yet the only thing that stops me is that my youngest son will start in college in September and I can't spend more money in hobbies (in Spain college is not as expensive as in the USA, but still it costs a good deal of money)

Perhaps I should start an association: Wargamers Anonymous, to help me deal with my addiction to miniatures and books!

I will definately join your association I know the root cause of my addiction at least but I do not think I can do anything about it. It always start with a book, a movie or a visit to some historic site. Then the planning starts for miniatures, buildings terrain etc Is there a cure for the Lead Horder addiction?

Only death, I'm afraid. Despite the best efforts of modern medicine this addiction has no known cure.  lol

Ask if someone wants to trade. The wonderful thing about LAF and other minis sites is that someone has already started and failed whatever project you want to do, and it is sitting in.their leadpile, just waiting for a new home. And yes, there is someone who thinks your old failure is their new shiny!

I can't count the number of projects I've traded off here, usually to see it traded off again, years later!
No shame here... ;) ::)

My name is Dave and I am a leadaholic. It has been 5 hours since I left a show where I spent too much money on lead. The first thing I did here was go to the Bazaar.

You are not alone  :D

I also am a leadaholic and have no true desire to stop. Time is the biggest hurdle to overcome and paint and play are next. We are all in the same boat..... lol
I should be painting right now.

I can give it up any time I want to. Really, I can. Really.
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.
