Hello from Canada
« on: 25 June 2017, 03:45:43 PM »
Hello. I have been out of wargaming for about 25 years. My 14 year old son has gotten into gaming in the past year and this has re-ignited my interest as well. We are in the north of the GTA (top of York region) but are happy to travel an hour or so for gaming. In the last half year or so we have contacted and played with a number of groups but am very interested in expanding the contacts. We are interested in a mix of miniatures, role playing, board gaming, wargaming and role playing.

I am still coming to terms with the focus of this site. I cannot determine if it is primarily supporting one company's product line or is broader based. I have no issues with a company supporting its products, I just cannot determine if this is true or it is primarily because the people here are very like minded.

I ask as I am interested in the period(s), scales and rules here but don't want to offend if I ask about other systems, scales or rules. Thank you.

Welcome back to wargaming!  You can talk about any scale/period/rules you want on this forum, which is why I love it.   :D

Welcome.
I also live in Vaughan...though much further south than presumably you do...

This forum embraces everything...just look through the various "Miniature Adventures" to see that each section pertains to a different area of focus. Any period using any scale of miniatures from any brand played with any rule set is basically fair game. Just double check the general section at the top of the page and any "stickied" posts in the top of each section for clarification.

For example.... if playing a WWII German army, you can't display Swastika's due to the fact the site is based in Germany and posted images of a Swastika could violate German law but that should be covered in the WWII section.

Enjoy
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Nice to meet you and I'm another member based in the GTA. There is a small group of us who meet up regularly on Wednesday evenings in one of the stores in the west end - Swords and Boards. You can join our chats here: http://torontominiaturesgaminggroup.freeforums.org. People do play at other times as well and we play all sorts of games - ww2 through to DBA ancients- and even figure board games.

If you do Facebook then we have a group there as well of like minded people. The link is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1811339069192539/
