Shadow War - Armageddon Beastman.
« on: 27 June 2017, 11:04:00 PM »
Someone mentioned if anyone had a use for the original Games Workshop plastic Catachan figures.

I did mention using the Warhammer Chaos Beastmen heads.

Here is my herd leader.

I have ten (okay nine now) left of the original forty I bought.

They will be built as "Imperial Guard" for SWA.

Simple and effective.
You might want to sculpt some fur on several places, or are you going to enhance the non-human asepct with the paint-job?

.... I have a couple of sprues of those beastman lying around, now to find some Catachans I guess.

Also evidently their "Ogryn" is a minotaur.

Thanks.

There will be a whole lot of greenstuff on them, spinal processes on the herd leader (who has now had a head swap).

The big Beastman are going to fill in as Orcs, by using ork shootas, sluggas and choppers from various ork sets.

Not sure about the shoulder separation on the smaller beastman (gors and ungors?).

am using whole set of bodies and arms on mine Beastmen, from marauders to Orks and  Kroots.
So far i was avoiding IG because mine are more feral and chaotic bunch but this one looks great!

Catachan arms also work fairly well on WFB/AoS Chaos Marauders. Obviously the arms are meant to carry guns whereas the torsos are meant for melee weapons. As a result, the shoulder areas can be rather fiddly. A bit of greenstuff and some Ork or Chaos shoulder pads can fix that right up tho.

Also, if you want an alternative for Beastmen, Victoria Miniatures will be re-releasing their "Broolians" in a couple of weeks.

Thanks.

I am thinking of building a Magos Biologis as a "counts as" a Commissar.

I have photographs of the first five beastman that I should upload tonight.

I still need to do the greenstuff work on them.

Any suggestions on sourcing shotguns from GW?

Okay, the revised herd leader.

The back showing the rods added for the spinal process (to be covered in Greenstuff).

Two more Beastmen.

And the last two beasmen. I think I will make these Veterans, and the previous two recruits.

Back when I was playing a lot of Necromunda, I found that the Catachan Lasguns converted to shotguns pretty easily. Just cut the barrel back to the body of the gun and add a new barrel. I'll try and dig up a picture for you.

I have still to do the greenstuff and there are ammo pouches to add.

But now the siren call of Chaos sings to me.
