Something new...Tom (left in above picture) runs a superhero skirmish game using One Dice Supers rules. The scenario was a take on The Watchmen and a nod to our Champions roleplaying days from more than 40 years ago. The old, slowing down, and ready to retire heroes face a dystopian society fed up with masked vigilantes.

Read the game report on my Lead Legionaries blog:

My wife let me win our New Year's game (so she tells me). Trajanic imperial Romans throw back a Sarmatian raid. Those barbarian cavalry have a frightening charge, but cataphracts are so expensive that they're usually outnumbered, and they can't handle rough going. They do better allied to Dacians.
Newlines and Pendraken, with a few Lancashire games figures (I can't honestly recommend them) and one unit of Copplestone fantasy troops who woke up one morning to find they were now Alans.

The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

Nice looking game and the big table must give interesting problems and advantages.

The Baby Eating Bishop of Bath and Wells, collects his rents in the Eastern Borders.

Wark near Coldstream to the west of Berwick on Tweed

The Bishop arrives in the village, locals come to pay their tithes, including a fee for protection, they're not sure if it's from the Border Reivers or the Bishop of Bath and Wells. They refer to it as Black Mail.

The Border Reivers have decided to relieve the Bishop of the need to carry the money home to Bath. The result is on my Blog. ;)

Great AAR. I'd forgotten we played this. It was great fun, but over fairly quickly, if I remember right. Do you want to have a go at the rescue in March?
