Recommend a mass-battle fantasy wargame that isn't GW or mantic

Extra votes for Mayhem, and for HoTT, with one addition - increasing army sizes to 48AP, but multiplying unit costs by 1, 2, or 3 depending on how many times they can recoil before being destroyed.

That's an interesting tweak: a bit more book-keeping, I suppose, but three times the variety of unit types.

I shall have to try it. We haven't had many problems with slogfests in our games, but then we do tend to play armies that are high in warbands, hordes and behemoths and low in blades and spears.

Sword and Spear Fantasy is very good and plays a very good game

Shadow Storm, the free fan made addition for Hail Caesar is also very good as, like Sword and Spear the base historical rules are good.

Imuptvs also have a fantasy version that plays well.

Even Too The Strongest has a fantasy version.

All are very good historical rules that can easily be used for Fantasy Mass Battle
