15mm Droid Legion
« on: July 09, 2017, 05:49:40 PM »
Hello again all,
This is my Droid legion which I've been meaning to post for some time
CMG minis, Scratch built Mecha , Flying drones and vehicles.
Now all I need is a Count Duku....

As always it is much better to actually see a model in the flesh rather than a pic and explaining how one did the paint job may be ambiguous but I will try to go through what I did.
I use lots of different makes of inks and paints. I used the below system on all models. I experiment a lot with colours when painting.Sometimes it works an sometimes not.
Eg. all the splotches on the lower part of the Hunter Killer Flyer ( the big one) where created by overspraying ink and letting it dry like that.
1) Grey primer spray undercoat.
2) FW Colour medium blue airbrushed overcoat.
3) Magic colour airbrush Dark blue ink on legs and lower part.
4) W&N Cobalt blue wash on all models.
5) Drybrush with W&N Light blue on top part.
6) Very light drybrush with white on head/top part.
7) Magenta lenses and extremities of weapons.
Hand painted W&N yellow lines and a bit of orange mix.Thin Lines made with a sharpie indelible marker.
Great army Trojan Points and painted by micropanzer … enough said.Love the name also.
Oh another thing the actual name should have been Robot Nation not Droid legion .. must have been thinking something else.
Hope this made sense.

Enjoy
Z

I don't want to spam your thread with my own pictures, but I used Count Dooku as an archetype for a renegade sensei knight in my 15mm Genestealer Cult.

Limousine and renegade Sensei Knight Ser Mordred.

He is in the third picture amidst his fellow brothers and called Ser Mordred.

I used a Demonworld human champion with two-handed sword, clipped off the swordblade and drilled a small hole into the hilt into which a wire was inserted.

Btw: Awesome painted and a brilliant idea!

Do this. Nearly all the hasslefree kids work well with large 15s/18mm. I also have his kid in a batman suit, and I think he has several other kids in SW costumes.

I would love him to continue this and give us also "kids" in spiderman, wookie and darth vader costumes!

Yes, Scooby doo should work fine. And the grymn are excellent as 15mm terminators (or small dreadnoughts).

I have a grymn serge, which works extremely well as a hero in terminator army in my collection. Will try to make a comparison shot asap.

Hi Z!

Don’t forget these Risk droids:

I see them pop up on ebay pretty regularly, often at pennies per droid when purchased in bulk.

Hello again Dan,
Good to hear from you mate.
You're right , those are nice also.
Will keep an eye for them. :D
Watching the Mandalorian at the moment & was
Thinking of doing something along those lines.

What I would really like to get , are those 4 legged ones, you know,
the ones that curl into a ball & roll. Forgot their name though ;D
