Tales from GHQ is Yankeepedlar's blog not mine. Stick it on you favourites, a great read every time. I know a lot of people who work at GCHQ but none of them tell you what they do and you don't ask.
Thanks for all the feedback, chaps, I have taken a few steps on this route, I have cleared a load of figures and rules over the last year, my current load has raised over £700 on eBay so far, in particular Mordheim, rules I've never played and my DAK/8th Army (did I need to three 28mm theatres of war?). I have bought some stuff, largely VBCW/Op Sealion, TWD and Pulp Alley, but I have no desire to get into anything new. I have a backlog of figures that cover all the periods I want and probably more (still wavering on the Napoleonics, is it that much different to SYW?)
The shiny is the biggest curse of the gamer, absolutely.
Like Dave, I am getting too old to remember all of the rules, so tempted to stick to Pike and Shotte, Black Powder and Bolt Action as standard for large games and Fistful of Lead for skirmishes, Pulp Alley for, well, Pulp, and not increase the Star Wars and Walking Dead stuff I have.
Yes, Dave, I will take you up on the offer of a game, thanks. Your table is probably the best of any REAL gamer I have seen, but not as great as your hospitality and steadfast loyalty
!
