Custom Star Wars Chess Set

I am not sure that chess is the a tabletop wargame it's acceptable to post about here, but recently I completed a custom Star Wars chess set as a gift for my father. The 54mm figures are all either taken from existing, mass-produced SW chess games or from the now defunct Star Wars Command line. I customized most of the figures in some way and painted them all to a wargaming standard.

The project/gift idea actually grew out of my own efforts to create skirmish warbands from the 54mm Star Wars figures I had collected. So a skirmish game is going to come out of this project eventually. More to come on that endeavor.

Nice work. Did you glued the figures over poker chips?

I like how the chess pieces scale with the Command figures which was such a great line and it saddened me when Hasbro pulled the plug on it.
Great way to fill out the ranks with new characters that were not available in the Command line.

Predatorpt - Yes, those are poker chips. I have yet to texture all the bases. 

Redmao - Thanks for the compliment! Yes, I was sad that the Command line was cancelled as well. They are nice figures and were pretty cheap. I managed to score on some clearance blowouts, so I have some conversion fodder remaining still. I think they will make for a nice skirmish game - except for the fact that all my terrain is in 28mm.
