Looking for a sculptor to make my head in 28mm
« on: 19 July 2017, 06:40:49 PM »
Dave Bickley left this idea in my wife's head, so I am looking for a sculptor to make a 28mm of my fine visage that I can use to adapt some of my generals and pulp figures to represent a mini-me.

Surely you can get one of those Games Workshop Gandalfs from back when the movies were out?  ;)

Oh, wait. That's not actually you? That's a relief, now I can say I actually prefer the Michael Fassbender Magneto without upsetting anyone. Interestingly enough, I found out today that Michael Fassbender is yet another one of those actors who was in Band of Brothers but you just didn't notice him at the time. That means that Bane, Scotty from Star Trek, Professor X and Magneto were all in the 506th. I'm beginning to think they are retroactively putting them in with CGI at this stage.

I'm sorry. I have rather rambled off the point again, haven't I?

Every gaming man and woman should have a figure of themself. You walk ever so slightly taller in the knowledge that there is a miniature you ready to wait out the aeons buried in the dust, possibly to be found and worshiped as an idol by post-apocalyptic primitives and/or apes, and then later put in a cultural museum by robot archeologists and gawped at by bored robot schoolchildren.

I'd say that whoever does the Studio Miniatures modern characters is probably your best bet for an actual likeness. Not sure if it's the same person who does Crooked Dice's stuff (Weingart?)

Paul Hicks would be next cab of the rank. Now if you did it in 6mm you would have any number of off the rack options.

Kev White would be pricey and he might not even be tempted by huge wads of cash- but that guy can sculpt a likeness.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

It's Matt Bickley that you're thinking of. Ernst Weingart is also very good, tends to do digital more now. I've done the Lebowski cast for Impact Miniatures but wouldn't say I'm really any good at likenesses per say.

I *think* it was Ally Morrison who did an expert job on one of the SESWC guys, though I ought to add that it was a personal present..... still, maybe worth asking? (???). It was a superb likeness!

Wonderful idea!

You could try contacting Kevin Adams as he has done a few heads for members of the Oldhammer community during events, with cash raised going to charity. The fellas who have had their likeness made seem very happy with them.
