I am unsure on how exactly it applies to Belgian and Dutch vehicles, but apparently any vehicles licensed in EU states MUST Register until 24h after entry to the zone (or preferably in advance) or will be fined if entering the restricted zone.

As I understand it, Belgian license plates do not need to register beforehand as long as the confirm to the emission standards.

Should be no problem for me then? Car is only 4 months old!

I assume so myself, since the system probably has access to Belgian vehicle registration databases and can therefore verify Belgian licence plates directly. Foreign vehicles not in said database would then have to register separately.

The actual process is not that bad (similar to the Congestion Charge in London) if a bit tedious, and of course you'll have to supply various data which I am not too happy about, but it's either that or triple the cost and double the time if going by train (for me).

Good to know. Fortunately my car seems ok for the next 7 years, unless they change the rules. I'll inform my friends to check in advance.

Thanks for the info  :)

Sometimes I love the EU, no showing of ID cards or such, but 1/2 hour car registration...

cheers and see you at Crisis, Thomas

P.S. The car park 5 min from Crisis seems to be not inside the LEZ ?

Rules don't seem too strict though. My 20 year old Volvo is allowed in till 2024 without extra charge...  ::)

And good point about the 'outer' car park!  :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

For those who have to register their cars and in theory that is everybody who is driving a non-Belgian or Dutch registered car, you have time to do this till 24 hours after your visit. It would not be our fault if you should forget this afterwards and the council can't access the database of your country to send you the fine. What a pity for them.   ;) ;) ;)

Also it is a fact that if you exit the motorway in Merksem exit 1 (second part) you can follow straight through passing the cinema complex crossing a bridge and a second (draw)bridge then slightly bend with the road and just before the next (draw)bridge there is a space where people leave their cars if they don't want to enter the LEZ (I can't call it a parking lot because it officially isn't.)

For those who want to aprk their cars next to the venue please do not forget to pay your parking ticket or the council will again have to find you in some non-accessible database. lol

If i well understand what you mean, from Merksem to the parking it's not in the LEZ ?
