Geckos - Online Card Editor with Frostgrave template
« on: July 24, 2017, 01:11:24 PM »
Some months ago, I put online an application called Geckos. Long story short, it's a website that works with templates, in the aim of producing cards for miniatures games (or anything else like RPG, board games, flyers, ...). Kinda like Magic Set Editor.

I just released the 0.3.1 version of Geckos, and with it I included a template for Frostgrave Monsters :

Hey, but I can make multiple styles for one template, so I put up one for Ghost Archipelago :

Yep, just another color and another symbol.

Feel free to use it, it's free (and open-source). You can do what you want with it, even modify the template. If you think something is broken, or missing, or could be made better, well, the github project is there to get your thoughts.

Oh, you may want to test it on the demo page : http://gulix.github.io/geckos/?default_template=fg-monsters

I have not been able to print or use them in a game yet, but it will be soon. They will be printed black and white on regular paper.
Only thing I would remark at this point is the use of image. Perhaps it would be nice to be able to choose an image as covering the whole card as a backdrop (watermark style)? I'm a bit hesitant to share the cards I made here because I don't have rights to the images I used. I just google some fantasy artwork and put it on the cards for private use...

Nice idea. I'll try it, maybe with a semi-transparent layer where there is text.
But it will have to wait end of august, because vacation starts in ... well ... now ^^.
