The British Invasion of Egypt 1801
« on: August 05, 2017, 10:25:48 PM »
Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking part in a mini campaign based on the British Invasion of Egypt in 1801...

I have posted a mostly honest and unbiased account of the two battles I took part in on my blog...

All the best. Aly

Looking grand!

Liked seeing the shout out to the local pub, too.

I've been following the Perry Egyptian extravaganza on their FB page since last weekend and your report is a nice complement.

Its objectivity deserves praise as well : you make it plain for all to see that perfidious Albion was only allowed to win out of magnanimity on the part of the heroic French force. Had the Good Guys proved less generous, the accursed rosbifs would have been sent packing in the wink of a camel's eye  :D

I am glad you enjoyed it Arthur...
I always like to give a fair and unbiased account...from my side of the table  ;)

In truth it is not an easy one for the French to win but extremely enjoyable nonetheless.
And many thanks to Alan for taking the time to host all three games ...
I suppose he did deserve to end up on the winning side... lol

All the best. Aly

Alexandria/Canope is a tall order indeed for the French player, even if he displays more tactical flair than Menou did during the real thing (no great difficulty there given how inept and unfit for command the man was). A night march followed by an assault against a numerically superior enemy in an entrenched position is a tricky proposition even for a skilled commander.

Excellent reports of great games, Aly!    :)

I'm looking forward to the next occasion to cross swords or join forces with you.
