Czech post-war Tank Projects in miniature
« on: 09 August 2017, 03:51:22 PM »
I've recently been jotting down ideas for an alternate history in which Czechoslovakia doesn’t become Communist after WWII.  They remain a non-aligned power and rebuild their homegrown defense industry and pick right back up on arms exporting to help fund their own robust self-defense forces.  Eventually they become a favorite supplier for nations who need quality military gear with no political strings attached.  I'm basing their earliest gear on real projects but eventually it will all be speculation.

What I’m curious about is are there any miniatures available for either the post-war Skoda T40 or T50 projects?  I’m envisioning these projects forming the basis for the Czech post-war armored formations and that would also become export favorites. I have not had any luck finding them in any scale though, not surprising given how obscure they are but I’m sure I haven’t looked everywhere.

Cool idea, will you be doing troops and other things do this project?
As for tanks I am pretty sure you might have to kit bash the  Skoda T40 and T50.
Are you planning on wargameing this?

"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Thanks! I'm only an indifferently skilled scratch-builder so something to use a a base would be very helpful, at least for the early stuff.  I might have to dust off my 3D modeling skills and try my hands at 3D printing.

I'm not sure if this is really going to be a wargames project or more of a general modeling project; my current vision is that the general balance of European peace is maintained so the Czechoslovakians are able to avoid war (though they might be involved in peace-keeping operations, particularly once the Cold War ends); the stuff they export sees plenty of action in the hands of others though.  And it might be fun to do this theoretical Czechoslovakian army up for various Cold War goes hot scenarios.
