Moisture vaporator thingy stuff. Whatever
« on: August 21, 2017, 09:46:41 PM »
This ludicrous adventure starts when Mrs. Suber gets rid of an empty hairstyling foam can. The thing never made its way to the bin.
Yeah, I know how to start a story...

I knew I had to do something with it. My mind flew over the idea of some Tatooine-like moisture farm shapes or something of the like. I just begun to glue absurd stuff all over:

You can see, this includes card, mdf bits, a staple ladder and whatever I could find in my bits box. With a cologne tap I made the control console:

Time to splash some paint on it! I primed it white...

And then I thought it would be a nice idea colouring it in desert fashion. Well, trial and error... It wasn't that a good idea:

Nope. It definitely needed to be white. So spray all over again and then to weathering and details.

Here you have it finished:

You can find it all on the blog. The main setback now is that I feel that I need a full moisture farm now!! o_o

Love the end result.  It does look better in grotty white than the sand.

The weathering (esp by the ladder) is ace.

Wow great result! 8)

Yes; many thanks to the marketing people of all those bottles, cans and pots our womenfolk are enticed to buy, for the interesting shapes they come up with every time...  ;D

You were right about changing the color to off-white; it looks just right like that.

The orange stripes and numbers just finish it right off. As the owner of the first fully decked out Rogue trader table I ever saw told me back in the early nineties; every shape works, as long as you add big numbers and letters all over them. :D

Very nice terrain piece indeed. Although looking at the original shape, it might have worked as a missile or rocket just as well... ;)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

An incredible scratchbuild! I was a little worried about the final look, until you did all the weathering and stencilling. And now it's perfect!!

Very cool.

The white paintjob and weathering really does it good. In the sand colour it looked a bit - err shall we say fallic.

Thank you all! :)

lol lol lol That's totally true!

i really like the weathering on it!.
which colour pattern did you used?

Funnily enough, having primed it three times, it now has a really interesting texture, paint holds extremely well ::). Once I got it full white, first thing was washing it all generously in Vallejo sand. Next step was a darker weathering with Vallejo leather in selected places (two layers). Then I sponged it with Vallejo whatever-the-name (German camo? Their dark, dark, scorched brown). Tremendously easy for lazy blokes like me :D

In the sand colour it looked a bit - err shall we say fallic.

Ouch! What has been seen cannot be unseen...
