What Are The Best Zombie Rules
« on: 01 April 2009, 10:12:26 AM »
Hi
I'm trying to find the best Rules for a Zombie bashing game.

Ideally we would like some simple fun rules that can be dipped into easily & preferably with different human characters!

Thanks for any help  :D :D

"Best"?

Depends what you want.

Uber-detail, or a playable game with lots of zombies on table.

These are the rules that were used for the Frothers Participation game, at Salute last week.

Roughly 2 hours for a game, 6 or 7 players with 2 or 3 figures each....oh, and 500 zombies on the table.  ;)

Simple, quick, and bloody (and free).

Akula's being humble, he wrote them! There's a recent thread about zombie rules on the Future Wars section here as well.

For a more structured game I use Two Hour Wargames All Things Zombie but for a more free-for-all bash up with emphasis on zaniness I adapt Astounding Tales! 2nd edition with about 5 seconds of house rules. Broom Handle Mauser in pulp equal to submachine gun in modern times, etc.

I recommend Ambush Z, adapted from Ambush Alley. I just finished reading the rules, and they look great.

Pictures of the Frothers game - am afraid i can't claim credit for it being "my" game - Rev Nice was responsible for designing the rather novel terrain, and the zombies were a group effort, with various Frother contributing zeds (i didn't even make it there this year :( ).

Needs more zombies.... we only had about 500.
