Cold War Europe 10mm
« on: September 18, 2017, 04:16:14 PM »
Gents
Over the years I have been collecting 10mm Cold War kit from friends who just haven't been using it.
I've then had them lying around the place, but this summer I decided to finally get it out and tart it up.
Soviet forces have come on well, just the British forces to tart up now.
It did help that a few of us went to an N Gauge model railway show a couple of weeks ago, and I bought quite a few items that fit in well with my 10mm set up, such a cars, trucks etc.
Thinking about using modern rapid fire rules, as we just want to have some fun with the period and don't want to get too bogged down in technical details.
Here's some shots of the layout, with the soviets just entering.

Enjoy

The farm is yet another wonderful creation from has.been.
We'll get to actually playing when I've painted the Brits up.

Looks really great!

Thanks for sharing your pics.  They're superb, inspirational motivators.

Love the buildings, civilian vehicles, roads, etc., as well as of course, the heavy armor.

I've been working on 1/144th scale Cold War gaming as well.  It's a great scale for having a nice mix of terrain, troops, and armor, not to mention a lot more maneuvering room on the gaming table.

I'm going to give the old WRG 1950s+ rules a try with them, when time permits.

Found some nice, civie vehicles on eBay for a very reasonable price, so have a good mix of cars.  Need to get some trucks to add in to the mix too.

Still looking for Volvo autos for my Soviet invasion of Sweden, if anyone happens to find those for a reasonable price.

Wonderful job. They almost look bigger than 10mm.

Wow, your terrain looks very cool.
Love it, hope to see more.
Am interested in the cost of the tanks, if you would be so kind to share.

The tanks are only about £2-£3 each from skytrex action 200 range.
But as I say, I have bought most of these second hand from friends that have fallen out of love with the period.

Making the roads was fun, as I needed something black enough to represent tarmac, so I fished around on the web and discovered comments about using roofing felt, turned upside down.

Well I had plenty of roofing felt left from the wargaming bunker roof, so I used it.

Just got myself a white paint pen and a steel ruler, and after deciding on a road width I was happy with, I cut out the lengths and shapes I wanted, then used the white paint pen and ruler, to mark on the road markings. Simple.

Brilliant stuff! Neat basing on the vehicles.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

No, never progressed it.
The lads have seen the stuff and want to get it to the table.
Might resurrect it over Christmas ?
Must find the British, and finish them off.

Hi thanks for the reply.
I am thinking of moving into 10mm as we are selling our house a d downsizing next year.
I had a load of the action 200 stuff in the 90s. I remember the figures being a bit rough. Just wondered if this was still the case? Also have the vehicle castings stood up to the test of time?
