Large 28mm miniatures for Frostgrave?
« on: 02 October 2017, 03:02:04 PM »
I am looking for some hefty miniatures to full the positions as martksmen, treasure hunter and tracker for my sons respective wizard posses. Thin Games Workshop Bretonnians or Game Zone.

Some of the Copplestone are fine, especially the wizards, but I find many of the rank and file to be a bit bland.

Have you considered Helldorado - there are some very nice miniatures in their ranges. I have some I use, if you'd like a side by side shot with some other manufacturer I can try to help you out.
I like my games like my orange juice: pulpy with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners

GW's 'Hugo Le Petit' (Bretonian) aka Little John makes for a good Tracker.

Have you looked at Otherworld Miniatures? Human Male Ranger -> Marksman; Mysterious Stranger (or Porter) -> Treasure Hunter

Those are the Minis I use.

Try Red Box figures available through Hasslefree Miniatures.  Their Aenglish have a similar vibe to GW Bretonians.

Red Box are smaller than GW Brettonians. If I understand correctly, Hammers wants larger 28mm size models that will fit with Games Workshop models.

Warmachine, Reaper, Dark Sword all make larger 32mm size fantasy models that could work.

That's right. I think the Red Box minis look just great but I am stuck witht he idea of fielding slightly larger miniatures for my sons' games. Plus I like the 4th to 5th generation Bretonnians a lot (I believe the Perry brothers sculpted them). Gamezone work nicely alongside thjese, but other than that I find it a bit of a quest to find suitable miniatures for the professions the boy's want for their teams. At the moment I am resorting to conversions of GW plastic for Treasure Hunter, Tracker, Apothecary and Marksmen. Multipart plastic are alright but but it *can* be difficult to make them look better than the patchwork golems they are.
