... So you will set this in and around the Japanese occupied area?

Exactly! It's about 1935, so the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo is the setting...

I am thinking the road race starts in Ryojun Port, goes through Mukden, Hsinking, and so on - eventually ending somewhere near the Mongol border.

The international rally is sponsored by Emporer Pu Yi of Manchukuo, but others agendas are at work behind the scenes. Including...

The rally is being used as a cover by a small group of adventurers and treasure hunters that are looking for a lost train full of Russian gold that escaped the Siege of Port Arthur in 1904...

That's the idea so far. More to come....

Here's a real life league I've been toying with sculpting . So now I've got a excuse.

Adelaide Young 'Su-Lin'

Great idea! You should definitely do Su-Lin - and maybe even her two Sidekicks!  ;)

Mr phipps...

Did you see this thread in the Back of Beyond sub-forum? Not exactly what you are after but lots of inspirational pictures from that period and place.

Dave this looks like a good way for pulp alley to go. Post more when you have it.

Tin Shed the three characters in your photo would make amazing figures. My vote would be not too dramatic. In the photo they are quite static and I think they look good as portrayed.

Cheers

some of the newly released eureka miniatures might be useful for the race:

Dave, I think this idea sounds great!  On figures, Bob Murch's Pulp Figures has been mentioned, and his line has Imperial Japanese soldiers which may be useful:

I like the possible Russian tie in as a potential theme, sub-plot, etc.  Steve McQueen and the Sand Pebbles could by of use for ideas.  Of course there a many possibilities for 1920s/30s China.

I look forward to this project!

Matt
