Khurasan Miniatures Scale
« on: 15 October 2017, 08:58:10 PM »
Hey I realized that Khurasan Miniatures list their Medieval knights at 15mm but can anyone tell me just how tall they actually are?  I recognize that there is often some difference between what is size is listed and what they end up being.

Hi, if you mean the late 14th century range, here's what I say about size on the store page for those:

Please note that the models are larger 15s, similar to the size of Testudo 15mm. The small increase in size leads to much more room for detail and the models clearly show the benefit..

Thanks for posting... so how tall from head to toe are your 14th century knights as I'm not familiar with the Testudo range.

Thanks!

Does no one have any of Khurasan's Medieval range?
I need to match them to 16mm (Head to toe) miniatures... are they too tall?

Isn't it pretty much standard to measure from foot to eyes now? And has been for a while?

Anyway, I painted a bunch of Khurasan late16th/early17th century cuirassiers along with a bunch of By Fire and Sword figures. The Khurasan ones are maybe a wee bit more 'buff', but mix well with any 15mm range I can think of.

The bottom line is this: Khurasan make great 15mm figures. Really, really pretty stuff. And the ones I worked with are along the lines of most other modern 15mm manufacturers. Now if the late 14th century range is a bit taller - that's OK. It will mix OK once it's painted. It's not like Testudo's minis are massively larger than other comparable miniatures ranges. So I'd say - get some Khurasan figures. I'm rather sure you'll like them.

I don't own any Khurasan miniatures, but I do know that Testudo figures are roughly 18mm from foot to eye, or 20mm from foot to top of the head. They are compatible with Blue Moon or the larger Xyston miniatures. I would not mix any of the above together with 'true' 15mm figures in the same unit, but that is a matter of personal taste.

Thanks sigur, that's nice of you to say.  I try my best to hire the best sculptors, casters and painters and I'm glad to know that some appreciate that.
