Punic Wars Spanish shield backs?
« on: October 21, 2017, 05:16:00 PM »
Painting a box of HaT Spanish Infantry for Warmaster Ancients. Polybius says that the planks of the scutum are covered in canvas then calfskin, but did that include the back of the shield?

Duncan Head describes the Caetrati as carrying a round leather buckler - would that be leather at the back as well?

Thanks for any help.
Waiter, my soup is giggling.
