Rumble on Planet X!
« on: April 09, 2009, 03:15:24 PM »
I ran a Fantastic Worlds game last Saturday at Spring Fever in Raleigh, NC that relied heavily on the new Planet X rules. Each team had their own victory conditions. Star Command was looking for survivors. the Zzinn were looking for the ship's data recorders, the pirates were looking for salvage and the hunter's were looking to find and kill the razorclaw which they believed would be drawn to the crash sight. Here are some photos of the game...

The Pirate Team (Heresy's Cap. Nathan and 3 Drantakhs)...

Star Command (Hydra Miniatures)...

Evil Psychic Zzinn (Brigade games Alien Invasion)...

Alien Big Game Hunter (Bronze Age Minis)...

Star Command searching for survivors...

Pirate crossing the rope bridge, searching for salvage...

Samuel Darkstar discovers the Hunter's quarry quite by accident. The razorclaw is a mini from the Star Wars line that was stated using the creature creator from Planet X.

Attack of the plant creatures. (I used the swarm rules from the hive aliens to make the plant swarm. One stat line and each additional model attacking added bonuses to attack and damage.)

The Hunter's find their prey...

A scenic shot of the river (Thank you Kim Allman for use of the beautiful board...

Star Command by the river...

A mind controlled beasty is sent by the Zzinn leader to attack Star Command...

A quick order of 'Jetpacks' keeps the team from being trampled...

So, onto the next target...

Love the models, but the terrain is the real scene stealer. Excellent looking game.

I borrowed my buddy Kim's darkest Africa board for the game. It is a real eye popper and deserved to be showcased as often as possible. As for the figs, what can I say. I'm a gamer not a painter.   ;)

Thought I'd something more to say

I wasn't trying to denegrate your painting skills! The minis are quite good actually. Especially like the Bronze Age Martians.  I just especially like the board!

Nice looking set up. Looks like the game was a "Blast"...bad humour, I know, but useful nevertheless in this case. Thanks for sharing!!
Victory is guaranteed to the last man standing, but always remember those whom you stepped on to get there!!

Grand show - I didn't get the transparent box at first, but it's a good idea for representing models in flight.  8) 8)

I didn't take it as such. I do realize there is a disparity between my painting and the showcase quality normally on display on this forum. I just do what i gotta do to get a game on the board.  :). I'm actually quite proud of the martians as well.

It was a stand in. I have flying bases available to me, but forgot to bring them. The plastic case always works in a pinch.
