Really nice how the bases came out. I‘m just surprised you are using magnets instead of simply glueing the miniatures on. What is your reason for that?

People here suggested flexible basing,
this way I can put the miniatures on a 4 model base or a 6 model base or a 5 model base and the magnets will keep them on during the game.
this way I can match opponent bases for the most common systems. I intend to print a 40mm x 40mm base system as well for them.

I'd second organising figures by subunit (company) rather than mixing the, up - it's how they fought  ;)

what do you mean?
6 companies per battalion for the late French, a company per base etc. ?

people, I have another question for the history buffs. the pompom or Hackle or what ever it is called on the Shako.

of the 36 infantry from the box that are not skirmishing all bar 9 have a spherical one the other 9 have a thistle shaped one.
do I just mingle them in? or change them out?

Neil

Hmmm, others seem to have painted up the thistle shaped ones as the flanking companies with the spherical one as the standard companies.

Nice bases  8)

I’ve no idea about the French questions but if you search TMP via google ‘site search’ there might be something in an old thread (it was a place where Nappy ‘experts’ hung out*)

Rousselot states that the pompom colours for a 6-company battalion for the four fusilier companies were dark green, sky blue, aurore, and violet. "Aurore" is a colour that is debated - most people go for an orangey red colour.

Essentially if you are painting a 36 figure battalion with six companies four stands should have the round pompoms* - one company / stand with dark green, one with sky blue, etc. Other than pompom colours the uniform is identical for these figures.

The remaining two companies / stand get the figures with the 'shaving brush' pompoms. I don't have any of the Perry plastics to hand - if you look at the packs / bayonet parts you will see that some packs have a small sword attached - these packs go with the 'shaving brush figures'. The shaving brush figures are the flank company figures - red for the grenadiers and typically yellow / green for the voltigeurs - I can't remember if the details are sculpted onto to the Perry figures or not but look at the packs with short sword (sabre briquet is the technical term) and check the cartridge boxes - a hunting horn symbol on the cartridge box and the pack belongs to a voltigeur, a grenade belongs to a grenadier.

Be careful with the packs for all the figures - some do not have a rolled up greatcoat on top of the pack and those packs should be used with the figures wearing their greatcoats.

*I recommend you read this article which will tell you much more I particularly commend the section on the 'tete' which will possibly give you ideas for your command stand - https://www.calpeminiatures.co.uk/French_Infantry_Uniforms_1813-1815

Tour 3D printed sabot bases look great.  I got some similar ones made for me for square bases (4 per stand) - they added a small tab at the back to use as a handle.

I'll post a picture in a bit

Yes, a company per base.

On pompoms, as Littlearmies posted, round for fusilier companies, odd shaped ones for the elite companies.

However, only grenadiers, NCOs, and muscians were issued the small sword in the period you are doing, voltigeurs hadn't officially had them in some time. Of course, colonels being colonels, some units kept them going somehow...
