Will contain an officer, RTO, marksman & grenadier.

28mm Cold War Soviets Pack 2: PKM pack
Will contain 2 PKM LMGs and 2 rifleman.

28mm Cold War Soviets Pack 3: RPK pack.
Will contain 2 RPK LMGs and 2 rifleman.

28mm Cold War Soviets Pack 4: RPG pack

All figures will be scaled for use in 28mm games and cast out of white metal. I hope to have them in the online store by the end of the month.

Now those are gorgeous and I will definitely be ordering a platoon's worth. I only wish you would put them in more sensible packs so we don't end up having to buy extras but I suppose that's the point of the pack configuration.

You really should do some Yanks or better still some British to oppose them.

''Now those are gorgeous and I will definitely be ordering a platoon's worth. I only wish you would put them in more sensible packs so we don't end up having to buy extras but I suppose that's the point of the pack configuration''.

Not at all Sir. The packs were specifically designed with the customer in mind. Each Cold War Soviet section had 9 men in it, 6 with AKs, 2 with LMGs (RPK, or Pkm) & 1 with the RPG-7. The way the packs are designed all you have to do to get your platoon is get one command pack, three RPG-7 packs and three PKM, or RPK packs as appropriate.

Seven packs in all, giving you 28 figures to make a 27 man platoon with. You'll only end up with one spare figure.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Bill! Thanks for the reply.  I see your logic now.

Alas,  the Soviet Motor Rifle Platoon for this period had nothing like 27 dismounts. Typically a BMP mounted platoon dismounted six or seven men (BMP-2 or BMP-1 respectively), each squad having an RPG and between 1-2 RPKs or PKMs. Even with the BTR mounted squads the numbers wouldn't typically be above seven  By the mid to late eighties you could expect at least at least one of the riflemen to have an under slung grenade launcher. of which there is but one in the command pack.

That said it is what it is so I'll just apply your purchasing strategy and live with the overs. An extra GP-25 equipped UGL man would be nice but I suppose I'll just do the conversions myself.

Order coming once they hit the shop.

Carlos. You might want to hide your wallet, as my plan for the Cold War Soviets is to do a range of 32 figures, so that a customer can do the whole platoon with no repeat poses...

...Then repeat the process with the uniform being the camo one piece.

There may well be a PKM tripod mount,

or AGS-17 too.

Will have to be careful about commissioning crew served weapons in 28mm, as thery're not great sellers.

Next up though in Spring 2018 will be 80s US Army & possibly RhSAS.

Yeah the problem with the crew served kits, is you really don't need that many for a proper TO&E. So they take longer to pay off.
Still looking forward to seeing them and hope to be able to afford some of them soon. I hate being broke.  :-[

Bill,

That's excellent news, both the variety of Soviets and the future Yanks.

I'd favour the PKM on the tripod if it came down to it. Company weapons are useful.

I could see a use for both in a game of COC. But then I always like to hit troops in the open with a burst of Grenades.  lol

I know their uniforms are more for Europe
but I plan to add them to my Russians in Afghanistan.
Really like them.

Ain't that the gospel truth !

I agree but I think the AGS-17 looks waay cooler.

If my mould makers can get all 16 sculpts into the same master mould I should have the first sets available for sale in a couple of weeks. Otherwise it'll just be the RPG, RPK & PKM packs to begin with, with the platoon command pack landing later next year.
