This is what I mean by early war White's

If I had a criticism of them it'd be that I'd like more facial hair. If you look at photo's of the time the troops have a mix of 'taches, short beards etc. None of the packs have any.

At some point I'll have the time to do my Victorian Russian force and I'll do a web page showing the different units I intend to make. With a few head swaps, or headgear changes it's actually surprisingly easy to create specialist units like the Frontier Guard from available figs.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Yeah, they also have the peaked caps I mentioned  ;)

Funny how the imagery of a 2nd rate film can burn itself into the brain.....  lol

Are these the Brigade ones?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Yep, they're Brigade. I thought that was the look you were after from your description, although they should really have dark green trousers rather than black.

If you really wanted to make the effort, you could scrape the peaks off as the unpeaked version of the cap was a little more common.

Yes, of course... very dark green, as instigated by Peter the Great. I usually use Dark Angels green on 1:72 napoleonics, but i guess I would have to use a version with black mixed in for the shading....

Darn, now I'm at it again - planning to paint minis I haven't even purchased, yet. The road to damnation....  >:D
