Arab/Bedouin desert tents

i'm in need of Arab tents in 28mm scale, useful  in many hipotetical scenarios with my FFL ecc, as they are rare to find..there is one made by Acheton but in USA and probably another by Caliver books...the most easy solution would be to purchase the easy to find Italeri set in plastic...is labelled 1:72 scale..but maybe some body as handled it and used compared with 28mm minis .which is the scale of my armies (Redoubt, OG, Unfeasibly ecc..)....maybe it could be ok also if used with 28mm minis...any ideas?

Hi,I got these from a company called Village Green ? In the UK many years ago,never used them,is this the type of thing you're looking for?
The mini for scale is a 28mm Mutineer Miniatures sepoy.

These tents are exceptionally easy to scratch build.(nothing more complicated than paper decorators tape and a cereal packet and an hour and half.)

I don't have the Italeri tents but this photo might give you some idea of the size.

I am not an expert on Bedouin tents but it seems that the historic Bedouin tents were only 5-7 feet at their highest point unlike modern tourist bedouin tents.

Romark & italwars, those are perfects Bedouin tents for a single family or a small encampment. The style and shape is perfect. I saw the same style of tents as these in the Negev in the 80's.

Looking at the pics of those tents I reckon that you could probably make yourself a bunch of them with Papier Mache. Use some expanded polystyrene to make a very basic shape and cover that in plasticene or something similar to get the right shape. Don't know if the Papier Mache would stick to the plasticene or not, but to be safe, maybe cover it with a sheet of clingfilm. Tissue paper, and either watered-down pva or a flour/water mix (I'd probably go for the former), apply a few layers, let it dry thoroughly and lift from the Former and you would have a tent shape. Base it, add a couple of cocktail stick tent poles, and you are done.

If you don't think that would be robust enough, some thin card from cereal boxes could be embedded in the Papier Mache. Even stronger, use wire mesh used for small animal cages to create the structure to support it.

Thanks for the suggestion MediumAl but it seems a lot of work ..at least for me is like if i decide to join a Tuareg caravan and learn how to make real tents
