Mauser Earth - 1/35 dieselpunk WWI in 1938
« on: December 17, 2017, 11:22:44 AM »
Anyone on the forum play or paint the Mauser Earth stuff from Wonderlands Project (previously SmartMax)?

I ask as I am looking to get started with ME and 1/35 is a departure for me in terms of terrain etc. I think I have identified some Italeri and Miniart kits which seem suitable for terrain options and any recommendations would be welcome.

Thanks!

I hope you've got lots of room! 1/35 scenery tends towards the large side, but there are quite a few manufacurers out there. The only problem is that a lot of them produce what amount to facades, designed with dioramas, rather than gaming in mind - & that whole buildings are quite expensive (Hansa System make some nice ones).
Fields Of Glory Models in the UK (fieldsofglorymodels.co.uk) have a pretty good selection, so even if you're not UK based it could point out some possible manufacturers.
(There is also the doll's house/display model option - companies like petite-properties.com do some nice stuff, though they unfortunately don't do 1/35 - you'd have to do some re-sizing of doors on either their 1/24 or 1/48 models.)

Cheers for the advice and insights, and thankfully UK based! :)

From reading the limited quickstart rules it can be played on a 2' by 2' area, so I guess a few ruins/facades etc. should do the trick.

Don't know why I didn't think of it before, but if you've got 3D models for scenery you can size it pretty much as you like (depending on detail - but stuff for 1/56 I'd imagine would size up fine).

Good point. Just started on the printed terrain journey (not self-printing though), so an excellent idea.
