The Hordes of Mordor (6mm, granny-grating)
« on: January 08, 2018, 07:03:19 PM »
6mm hordes of Mordor, made from 4mm needlepoint mesh also called "granny-grating".

Here pictured are 8x archer skirmishers, 2x Olog-hai trolls, 2x Uruk-hai great orcs, 6x regular orcs, Gothmog, Smaug, the Witch-King, and a troll captain.

You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

I have to salute your creativity.

While the illusion might not hold up to scrutiny, it looks great in the pictures and i'm sure it looks fantastic on the tabletop!

A wonderful little army :)

(reminds me the the hair curler soldiers i've seen online.)
never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

I had originally set out to make hair curler armies.  Granny-grating is much easier.

Interesting project. They certainly look impressive as a mass.

Do you think that the result is worth the amount of effort? These must take some time to cut out and assemble, I assume painting is fairly quick.

How do you think it would compare to buying 6mm figures and painting them up? Obviously this method has a much higher degree of creativity and individuality.

Wow! I am always amazed at how good the "Granny Grating" armies look. You have done an exceptional job.

It's certainly not for everyone.  I've always been a Maker more than a Painter, so this is right up my alley.  Others, maybe not so much.

Spectacular stuff. Really nice trees as well, are they just pipe cleaner?
