Shadow War: Armageddon Campaign
« on: 21 February 2018, 11:57:44 PM »
Over this past weekend I hosted a Shadow War: Armageddon campaign. In a little under 24 hours, eight participants played over 20 games!

I don't normally PLAY in skirmish campaign weekends that I host - as I find it a bit much to play in it while trying to keep the event running smoothly, answer any rule questions everyone has and document the whole thing for my blog...

The first two (of three) parts of the weekend report can be found on my blog along with some background and a bit of narrative linking together my own battles, some info on how the other games went down and LOADS of pictures.

The reports for Friday night and Saturday morning can be found here:

Hopefully I'll get to finishing up part three tomorrow. In the meantime, here are a few pics of the weekend...

my first game was against Amanda and her Tau.

It was a pretty savage little fight in the close quarters of the underground caverns. I only won because she happened to bottle first.

Other Tim's Orks also fought John's Skitarii rangers in the caverns.

Paul's Grey Knights faced off against The Girl's Harlequins in the deserted desert city.

Christian's Eldar fought against Finnegan's Orks in the Jungle Ruins.

...and that was just round one!

Check out the links above to see loads more pictures and find out how these and all the other games week - and stay tuned for part three!

Thanks for the write up - I always enjoy reading the reports of your long gaming weekends and The Girl seems to have mastered it. A worthy winner in the end.  :)

Despite your conclusion of the game, you've certainly piqued my interest in Shadow War, which I've done well at resisting up until now.

I've glanced over it in the past simply because I had a few games of 40K back in its 2nd edition which I enjoyed, but never really played it since, and I don't have the time, budget or inclination to start full on 40K but this seems like a nice pocket sized fill in with rules similar to how I used to play.

I'd love to get my hands on the Chaos Space Marine Chosen from the old Dark Vengeance box and make a warband around those.

Anyways, thanks for posting up your weekend. Looks like you guys had a blast playing the game in the right way - laid back, friendly and fun and it was a joy to read.

Cheers, RK.

Thanks Guys!

Yeah, it's not a terrible game. It has some balance issues...

There are LOADS of house rules and fixes out there - many are in the Shadow War: Armageddon Community Facebook group's files section - I couldn't be bothers to sift through all of them, played test them all and figure which ones would work... That seems like homework. I'm all about fun.
