Those big fellows are Bush Wampas. Similar ecological role to grizzly bears, and important for keeping Ewok populations in check.

How did you get the ferns for the bases? ???

Scale model palm trees from The Model Tree Shop. I get a selection of scales (usually 1:250-1:1000) and then just pick and choose.
