Yes, the Lizardman/Salamanders army really was special.

I'm really excited about this Vanguard shtick - so much so I've got a teaser pic of what my warband might look like, using the Northern Alliance rules:

I also pre-ordered the Vanguard rulebook (along with the Walking Dead solo set), as I could see myself dabbling a bit in Mantica stuff because of it (I have Dungeon Saga, but I have not had the time and motivation to dive into it, yet).

I'm really hopeful that Vanguard will take off in a big way. I'm working on an Undead warband to fight against the Black Order, and to give demo games when possible. It'd be awesome to see a real successor to Mordheim emerge

Exactly - I have a lot of old minis that could be painted and pressed into service for that!
