The painting in the first pic looks really good but not everyone is in focus and the face of the second guy from the left looks a bit off too, maybe some extra inserts.pictures would have been good because the elf in the left really looks great! I still voted for this piccie though, as we haven't seen it before (and the painting looks great)

Same here. New before old. Both well painted, the first entry could benefit from a better picture (some additional pictures after this week is over would be very much appreciated!).

Sharp picture trumps fuzzy picture  ;)
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

thanks for the comments on mine - we are not very experienced with the photo thing ( I paint, my son photos) - we will try and get this better next week and I will post up a few additional photos if we can get them sharper

It's defenitly a hassle to try to get nice pictures.

In your case it looks like you use the macro setting, which often (sadly) doesn't work that well if the miniatures are standing even a bit apart from each other. Using the normal setting, a tripod, and zooming in from about a meter often gives a better result. Using a self-timer makes sure your picture will be less blurry.

Would be good, the painting looks lovely but only two out of five models (the girl and the elf) look ok photo-wise. That said, I may have to try Brax' advise for myself as I keep using the macro as well. Going by the picture you posted some closeups of the paintwork alone would have helped a lot too.

Here's how I take my photos.  LINK

With your photo it is obvious how well painted the figures are.  The focusing issue is because the camera is "confused."  If you are using Macro might want to try experiemnting without for group shots.  On some cameras it helps.  And, although I know lots of voters like the scenery/terrain rather than the painting with this photo the backdrop simply adds to your camera's "confusion."

The Western "scene" is excellent.

Hard decision. The bases on the que'mon's questors are very nice, and the lawmen have very nice shading. Good luck to you both.
Victory is guaranteed to the last man standing, but always remember those whom you stepped on to get there!!

I went for the adventuring bunch. I love the varied look of them and the whole chaotic thing going on...fits them well and has a bit of an oldskool D&D look which always scores high in my book. The colors are nice too and the miniatures are well painted and well converted.
