I found the large inset of the one Gladiator's rear end distracting and the caption murky in an otherwise excellent entry. In the end I voted for the Gladiators but I thought a slightly cleaner presentation would have been a better choice.

Thanks for the "feedback" Heldrak. The caption "was" cleaner when it was first done on my PC, but I guess sizing of the photo and transfer blured it... oh well, at least the minis are sharp! I know the presentation counts for a lot of people and Im trying, really fella's I am...lol. Its all I can do with a job, wife, 2 kids, dog, bird, house, snake, and actualy "gaming" with my figures to get the stuff painted and pictures taken...pheww! I was so glad when the site went down for a week! (sorry Prof!) I too was not that happy with the "layout" but for me and I hope enough people it's mostly the judgeing of the Paintjobs that carry the most weight because god knows others are much better than me at the clever layout and have the time to do it. Funny thing too is I work in Hollywood lighting and making all those films and TV shows... My camera needs to be replaced its an older Nikon 950 that has been dropped to many times and has a very short depth of field. The only background that I had for the Gladiators was the arena we fight them in so I had to angle over the wall. In the end I shot the pictures while having a garage sale and moving furniture for the wife  o_o Thats my story and I'm sticken to it! lol

There's a lot going on there with the gladiators, nice :) Especially the one draging the wounded/killed one.

We've seen the amazing stories before and the gladiators are new. The gladiators look really good but for once I voted for the older entry because the presentation is great and the painting really nice, and also because I had to painfully vote against it last round ;)

Part of the reason the text in the gladiator photo is unreadable is the colour choices - purple background and red text? Ouch. It's also blurred, but it'd be hard to read even if it wasn't... (Vonkluge, orange text on a pale green background - as you've done in your comment upthread) is nearly as unreadable... contrast matters!)

The figures are nicely done, and they're new, and new always sways my vote considerably in the LPL!

 lol

@Vonkluge: Please tell me you are colorblind, since already too often you use clashing colours that make my eyes sore trying to read your text. The minis look good though and they captured my vote
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

Vonkluge,
I'm happy to cast my vote for a fellow Bengal Club member but please take the comments about color contrast in your captions to heart.  I swear thatmy eyes are bleeding  o_o o_o  The gladiators are great though :-*

Voted for the gladiators this time. Really like the crisp detail on the photos. Shields and the skin tones were very good.
What make are the figures?

Ok, went back to black text! Are everyone’s eye's back in their sockets? I was just trying to differentiate a comment by one of the painters from the voters. One of the problems was when you preview you post it always appears on "dark" green and when you post it can go to light, I did it late and did not check the color of the last post.

"gamer Mac" the figures are from FOUNDRY and are really nice. I believe they are all or almost all done by Mark Copplestone when he was sculpting for them. I was so in love with the figures I bought the whole collection 60+ figures I think. I finally found a rule set I really like so have started to paint them. They are I think very challenging to paint as they have a lot of exposed flesh and the rest is armor/weapons, I tried to be careful not to have them all look the same. The one Gladiator, with the square shield painted with laurel leaves is a modified figure. Foundry really did not have a figure Heavily armored enough to fit in as a “Cataphracti”. So I took a figure that looked much like the one he is standing next to and dremeled of the existing belts and a portion of flesh. I re-sculpted the armor on him; Thigh areas leather lamellar armor, Chest piece, and chain sleeve on shield arm. This gave him the heavier look I wanted for the “class”

On topic: Nice entries both, but I went with Mancha´s this time because of those super-smooth clothes.

Great work by both of you. This is tough. The Gladiators look very real...nice details and shading. The Amazing Stories is such a great cartoon layout and the painting style is crisp. Decisions, decisions!!

Both nice, in very different ways, but I love the layout of the Amazing Stories models, so...

While the painting on the "Amazing Stories" figures is very nice and the layout clever, there's so much more to enjoy about the Gladiators. A lot of detail and work into them to produce a cracking display of painterly prowess. Maybe the photo layout could have been a little cleaner or more interesting, but what is this: a photography/layout competition or a figure painting competition? I'm voting for the entry with more effort in it from a painting perspective.

I can see that your are new to the LPL lol
Take out the " or a " from your sentence and put in " / " and you would be right ;)

This is a photography/layout competition/figure painting competition.  :D
