Thanks, everyone.

The last bit of work I have left to do on my display board is to put the finishing touches on the longhouse.

Also, since I'm completing my Rus project ahead of schedule, I have time to paint a proper Jarl Sigvaldi unit (below is a WIP pic). Since it’s a Hired Sword unit, I want to distinguish it from the rest of my Rus Warband. I'll do this by using red as the unit’s unifying color and perhaps use shield transfers that differ in color from my Rus.

Below is the finished Jarl Sigvaldi unit.

I have limited room in my luggage and carry-on to transport all my minis, books, gaming supplies, and display boards to Adepticon. As such, my plan for Adepticon 2026 is to bring only a single display board, along with modular terrain elements themed for each of the three warbands I plan to bring.

Below is my board with my Rus terrain elements.

When working on a warband project, I prefer to lean into the warbands more mythic elements, even when my subject matter is historical. This preference pairs well with my clean, storybook painting style, which favors clean brushwork over the grit of real life. It also gives me room to weave in mythic and  touches like a Rus shield-maiden unit, Oleg’s snake-bite tale, skull strewn bases, and a standing stone encircled by what I’m calling whale bones.

Looks great! I'm sure some could dispute historical accuracy, but stuff like the standing stone certainly adds the right vibe to a table, and looks extremely cool :D

Great painting on the Jarl's unit, and the board is none too shabby either. Great work!
