My Gaming Table, Models and House Rules for Dracula's America

Hi,

I would like to show you the progress of my gaming table for Dracula’s America. Thematically based around a derelict silver mine (with some ghost rock deposits, if you happen to know Deadlands, too), spiced with an abandoned boomtown.

My first step was to get some 45 cm x 45 cm plywood boards (4 mm). First sketches with my first building (Renedra Barn) and some mining equipment:





Next step was to cut the interior of the mine from polystyrene boards.



My second building (Sarissa):



Okay from the outside, but the inside… yuk!



Okay, need to improve the insides of my buildings. Next try:



Much better! But a lot of work. 

Meanwhile the mine improves, too:



And finally (still w.i.p.) my first game of Dracula’s America (without supernatural factions). 3 players, my mixed posse of Apaches, Mexicans and a mad Preacher with shotgun versus two posses of Outlaws.



Got beaten up badly, but had a lot of fun. This game rocks! Showdown in the tunnels:

That’s my progress so far. Now I am heading for some more buildings and more detail on the table. Cacti, skulls, vultures, grass, etc. Stay tuned.

Still some weathering ahead, and six more of those fine Sarissa buildings waiting to be built and painted...

Very cool. I really like the mine - a very cool idea.

The Sarrisa mine head building is cool - I too have add a bit of railway track and some trolleys. I find a bit of detailing lifts the MDF buildings a lot. The two things I do are add some strips of card to represent door frames, window lintels, and just randomly added to be struts or other slightly sticky out bits.

The other thing that I really like is to use paper tiles. The ones from Warbases that are laser cut are very quick and easy to use. You can cut them by hand, I have done for a small roof with big tiles, but this really adds to the time taken.

Looking forward to seeng more games on this table. DAM is a great game - the supernatural bits are good, but not overpowering.

Brilliant-looking board there- I especially like the fact that you can play inside and outside of the mine at the same time. Glad to hear you enjoyed your first game of DA, too!

Thank you guys. More buildings have been finished this week, including the accursed diner which is said to be the source of the terrible disease that has turned Deliverance into a ghost town:



Despite of the terrible fate of this town there are still soldiers of fortune seraching the ruins for treasure...









Tonight another battle will take place in this sinister place. Reports will follow.

Meanwhile I have played a couple of sceanrios of the "Forbidden Power" supplement and am in dire need of some Bayou terrain. This pieces under construction shall bear the desecrated church of Dagon. I have been using wooden table mats and the remains of our laundry basket. The bollards are made from wooden pegs.
