Video Tutorial: The Dip
« on: 26 May 2009, 06:41:24 PM »
I've just posted my blog's first video tutorial, which covers the popular "dip" technique that uses wood stains like Mixwax to produce very nice tabletop quality minis very quickly with a minimum of effort on the workbench. The results aren't Golden Demon worthy, but they're quite good and the ease and speed of the technique means you may actually FINISH some of those big painting projects.

The article includes the best sources for dip media around the world, step-by-step instructions, and even a start-to-finish video. I'm pretty proud of it and hope the community will find it useful.

Looks like any old kind of wash to me. What is different from using - say -deluted paint or inks?

Not the same thing. These wax stain products have a better 'stick' to them than ink/acrylic washes.

Good one, Curryman. I think I will make this sticky, no pun intended.
