Next up on my DLI project... another rifle section;

So far this lot is done and I've decided to do all the basing at once at the end;

...and this is what I have left to do...

Excellent as always V, helping to inspire me to crack on with my 15mm KSLI (my grandfathers regiment) I think my battle dress is a bit darker (using the coat D’Arms triptych) but still acceptable. Are you managing to get any games in recently or are you just tackling your painting queue? Are you doing the DLI due to the actions they were in through Normandy or is it due to familial links like mine? (Sorry you may have said on this thread but I’ve been distracted by the glorious pictures). Sadly I didn’t get to meet him (and I don’t think my efforts do him justice) but it’s nice to have that link.

Fabulous technique. Like an impressionist old master. Monet would be proud  :)

Both my grandfathers served in the Royal West Kents, one in the BEF in 1940 and invalided out after Dunkirk. The other in late 44 and into 45. My grandfather in the BEF had a twin who was in the Buffs and he was captured out at Alem Hamza at the massacre of the Buffs and went on to escape his POW camp when Italy changed sides.

So no family connection just one from seeing so many DLI men in Normandy graveyards and their exceptional le
.vel of service across all fronts. One of the premier British infantry units and one not given enough attention in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply V, an interesting and worthwhile unit, let’s hope they distinguish themselves on the tabletop as well as they did in real life! If the old war gaming superstition of well painted new units doing badly you must dread games  ;).
