Armistice 1918

"On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 the guns of Europe fell silent."
That was hundred years ago and lately I thought of those fatefull days of late 1918 a lot. After four years of incredible slaughter Europe returned to the negotiation table. Nearly 20 million soldiers and civilians were dead and three Empires crumbled to dust. An unimaginable change in this young century...
Now hundred years later I'm glad to see that Europe has become a better, more peaceful place. Although the last years felt uneasy we're much luckier than our ancestors were.
When I visited Tactica this year Aly Morrison and Great War Miniatures had created this special set of figures and I bought it right away. It was crystal clear to me that I would have to finish it until autumn and present it this very day.
Figures: Great War Miniatures
Paints: Vallejo Model Colours and Wargames Foundry

Great vignette!
The last Commonwealth soldier to die did so two minutes before the Armistice took hold, having been shot 8 minutes prior to dying. He was a Canadian.

That vignette honours the fallen and the generation that went to war for a better Europe, due to the thoughts that were put into sculpting the miniatures and your great painting too. Well done Sir!

Very nice.
I don’t suppose anyone has a spare set that they’d like to part with?

Thanks for your kind feedback. It was indeed a great pleasure to work with those figures and I'm glad to hear that you like the result.
Cheers
