Matchbox Model A repainting
« on: June 07, 2009, 03:16:49 AM »
I posted in the New Vehicles thread about a batch of Matchbox 1920s/30s vehicles we found locally - not the big Yesteryear ones, but smaller, near-perfect for 28mm where the Yesteryear ones are often just a bit large.

Here's one of the Model A trucks posed with two of Company B's excellent Model T kits, built up into trucks earlier this year.

I hit both the Model As with dark grey primer this afternoon, while waiting for the Dullcote on my Round 7 figures to dry.

Decided not to mask off the windows - they'll look more like gaming pieces with painted windows, I think. Besides, I hate fiddly masking like that!

woo those are really old models! :) i like them, but you have to give them a GREAT paintjob to make them realistic! :) good luck! :P

Wheels, front grille & bumper and misc. details still to do on both, and some highlighting/shadows, especially on the blue/green one.

The tires and wheels are more modern hotrod tires - very wide - compared to what the real 1930s Model A would have run on. Going to have to do a bit of painting to help disguise that width, I guess.

One of them - probably the tan/brown one - will be part of my Round 10 LPL3 entry, so this is the last you'll see of it until then!

A GWM Late WW1 German for scale.

First one basically done - needs a few details picked out, and probably some weathering. It may also get a decal on the side of the box. My brother found some inkjet decal paper we'll probably do a sheet of one of these days.

The brown/tan truck is at about the same state of completion as this one, but it'll be appearing in the grand finale round of the LPL, so you'll have to wait a week to see it!
