Rebasing and Repainting SW Minis?
« on: May 11, 2009, 04:57:00 PM »

Greetings Forum readers!

Long-time Lurker, First-time poster!

I have recently started collecting some SW mini's and can't help but feel thy're 'lacking'.  Has anyone had any success in rebasing or repainting?  Repainting seems fairly straight forward but i'm not sure whether rebasing them is worth it or just simply 'flocking' the bases they're on.

My google-fu seems to fail me and I can't find any pictures of rebased figures, lending me to believe it's a bad idea  :?

Any help greatfully received

Don't really know if they need rebasing as such - I used Vallejo Grey Pumice on the bases and painted it with suitable colours and I think it looks ok. Here's a quick/badly lit picture of what mine look like:

It's the paint job they come with that make you think they're lacking. Many of them are loaded with detail. I've painted up a clone trooper squad, but don't have pics.

Look here for my repaints of some of the DnD line.

My advice is to try a couple of different primers. Some of the sprays I've used as primer didn't dry properly and remained tacky. I guess it's because of whatever type of plastics or paint they used.

Jibbery style oinkery which don't make no damn sense.
