Back in the eighties I had a number of Vietnam era shirts and trousers for bush wear. They were simply more comfortable than the then issued polyester mix items, with their stiff collars and the ridiculous map pocket placement on the thigh. Most were as new issue. Colour wise they varied from a mid olive, through a sort of greyish green to a sort of faded pea green colour. Buttons were darkish olive plastic.
Webbing had a similar diversity although was notably less brownish than the US issue and items had the Australian broad arrow marking stamped on them. A lot of Vietnam era diggers used the Australian ‘Bren pouch’ as an additional or substitute item on their webbing. It had a bigger capacity than the standard basic pouches. These tended to be either a khaki tan or a pea green colour. Paul has correctly modelled these on some of the figures. Early on in the war ‘08/‘38 pattern packs were the norm.
GP boots were black leather. The early toggle ropes could be natural hemp rope but most were green nylon. Bayonet scabbards, if worn, were black and the frog web coloured.
